The Ministry of Health will install photovoltaic systems to supply efficient and sustainable energy to aqueducts being built in communities far from the electrical grid in the district of La Chorrera, province of West Panama. In total, seven wells will be drilled in the communities of: Las Yayas, El Zaino, Altos del Jobo, La Colorada, Hules Centro, Altos de Espavé, and El Broquel. The drilling and installation of the photovoltaic systems are in charge of the Directorate of the Potable Water and Sanitary Sewerage Subsector (DISAPAS). This directorate will also be in charge of monitoring and supervising the quality of the water from these underground wells. According to a Minsa report, similar systems will be installed in communities in the districts of Capira, Chame, and San Carlos.
